A renowned leader in system integration, our client is seeking an ambitious Commissioning Engineer for their newly formed Energy team. Commissioning electrical transmission Substation Control Systems, this is an opportunity perfect for current Commissioning Engineers, or Test Engineers keen to shift into site commissioning.

As the ideal candidate, you will possess strong communication skills, understanding of system engineering design, and have the willingness to lead site visits for installation and commissioning work.

Over time, you will also contribute to the development of test documentation. Extensive training will be given on their Substation Control Systems, making this role an excellent opportunity for those with a solid engineering foundation and eagerness to learn and develop new skills.

Role Responsibilities:
 
  • Execution of site acceptance testing/commissioning activities as per approved test documentation
  • Technical supervision of installation works on-site
  • Ensuring site work aligns with agreed technical procedures, methods and standards
  • Management of project commissioning files
  • Marking-up of drawings and schematics where changes are required from commissioning activities
  • Involvement in creation & preparation of commissioning/test documentation
  • Deployment of configuration files to SCADA BCU’s, RTU’s, IED’s and Network devices

Essential Skills:
 
  • Qualifications or experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Understanding of Test/Commissioning techniques
  • Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic systems
  • Understanding of communication networks protocols and media types
  • Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Office
  • Full driving license (UK or convertible to full UK)

Desirable Skills:
 
  • Experience of writing, developing specifications/plans
  • Completed BS7671 18th Edition course
  • Completed C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing course
  • Experience of working on National Grid Substations
  • Experience of Substation Secondary Systems
