Cordius are currently seeking two Design Estimating Engineers for our client based in Trowbridge. These positions will be based from Trowbridge, but will involve working on projects across the entire Southern region. The ideal candidates should have a background in Piling. While the design aspect is crucial, candidates must be willing to learn the estimating side if they lack prior experience.

Depending on the level of experience, the right candidate may have the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis, but they will be expected to be in the office for at least three days a week.

Job Purpose:
In this position, you will handle all aspects of regional piling work acquisition activities, with a degree of autonomy based on your experience. This includes pile design and technical sales such as CFA, CHD, Tubular Steel, and Precast Driven.
You will be responsible for managing all incoming piling inquiries, evaluating opportunities, and assigning tenders/designs, as well as engaging in estimating, tendering, and client interaction/negotiation until orders are secured.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate incoming inquiries for tender suitability
  • Prepare estimates in accordance with Work Instruction Documents
  • Collaborate with the "Package Foundations" team to determine the optimal piling solution and identify potential additional work
  • Conduct estimating activities to maximize order acquisition potential
  • Submit tenders by specified deadlines
  • Coordinate with group companies for non-RB piling system schemes
  • Follow up on submitted tenders
  • Develop and submit design packages for ongoing projects
  • Facilitate handover from sales to contracts team
  • Retain design accountability for post-order piling changes
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of piling techniques and design standards, staying competitive in pile design and construction, and liaising with the Chief Geotechnical Engineer
  • Join Contracts Manager/QS for pre-tender and site/client visits to ensure excellent customer service

Required Skills & Experience:
  • A relevant engineering degree and an MSc, or a focus on Geology/Geotechnics
  • Candidates who are in the process of obtaining or have recently completed Chartered status will also have an advantage
  • A background in Piling is essential
