Cordius is working with a highly successful and very well-known manufacturing company near Chester City Centre; the company is a global business and one of the UK’s leading building materials suppliers to builder’s merchants nationwide. Currently, they are looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a permanent day-based role.

Hours:  Rotating Shift Rota
Week 1 – Monday to Friday: 0600 - 1400
Week 2 – Monday to Thursday: 1300 – 2200, Friday: 1300 - 1700

The successful candidate will, ideally, be a time-served, apprentice trained electrically biased engineer, with a good working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.  They will thrive in a busy and demanding environment, possessing electromechanical systems maintenance knowledge, that extends to fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and rectification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Breakdown response and efficient rectification
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of electrical and mechanical systems involving PLC control
  • Achieve team and individual targets
  • Complete and control all necessary documentation around engineering activities
  • Achieve all activities in line with company regulations and health & safety guidelines Planned preventative maintenance
  • Assist with driving continuous improvement and lean activities

Skills and Competencies:
  • Positive and proactive attitude
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and assume responsibility
  • Maintenance of machinery, plant, and equipment
  • Relay logic and hard-wired systems fault diagnostics
  • PLC/HMI bus systems knowledge
  • Light to medium mechanical fitting work as and when required
  • Electrical installations to latest regulations
  • Control techniques PLC/AC & DC drives/Comms

Educational Requirements/Experience:
  • 5 years + relevant experience post apprenticeship
  • Ability to read Electrical & Engineering drawings
  • Ability to fault find — good working knowledge of electrical and mechanical drive systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
  • Working knowledge of modern AC & DC drive systems through to standard large motor starting systems
  • Good working knowledge of PLC's, pneumatics, hydraulics, variable speed drives (ACDC)
  • City & Guilds/ONC in Electrical Engineering
  • Time served electrical engineer
  • TNC/HND in Electrical Engineering - desirable
