Cordius is looking for an Engineering Administrator to join a company in Hope Valley, on the outskirts of Sheffield. The company is a well-known, leading manufacturer of heat technology used in furnaces and ovens for the laboratory and process markets with more than 65% of sales coming from Export markets.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and modifying bills of materials on the business system. This will involve investigation into product build utilising engineering drawings, production information and the creation of manufacturing orders. You will be required to identify logical solutions to problems and implement these. You will also be involved in the future development of this department.

Primary responsibilities:
  • To create & maintain items on the XA business system.
  • To understand production planning & manufacturing processes.
  • To create logical solutions to problems and implement them via Information Systems.
  • To utilise good communication skills in order to complete projects effectively.
  • To create and modify bills of materials on the XA business system. This will involve investigation into the products build utilising: engineering drawings & production information e.g., Manufacturing Orders, production staff knowledge etc.
  • To utilise the official change procedures to co-ordinate and inform others of new/changed bill of materials.
  • To gain knowledge of existing products, materials, and production techniques with the aim to improve the consistency of the bill of materials across the product range.
  • To manage bill of material related projects within agreed parameters.
  • To create and maintain the configurator system used for sales.
  • To issue drawings to the shop floor.

Key skills and qualifications:
  • A minimum qualification to Degree level in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, however a lesser qualification could be considered if combined with recent extensive experience in Production Planning.
  • A knowledge of, and some practical experience in basic computer programming would be an advantage as would experience in Infor XA business system or similar
  • The successful applicant will need to have good communication skills as the duties will include liaising with internal departments, have the ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision, prioritise workload and the skills to be a good team player.
  • Flexible, hands-on approach to working within a project team or individually.
