FPGA Engineer - Security Products

Job description

Reporting to the Head of FPGA Development you will be responsible for testing and developing new and innovating products, working on the development and testing of FPGA modules written in VHDL. The successful candidate will become fluent in all aspects of FPGA design for high assurance systems.

Due to security requirements, to be considered, you must be a UK National (not Dual-National) and be able to gain/hold a high-level security clearance (DV).

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assisting in the development of FPGA modules using VHDL
  • Defining and coordinating interfaces for both internal and external components
  • Development of new Test-bench modules to ensure correct operation
  • Design testing procedures
  • Identify problems and possible solutions
  • Keeping up to date with the latest FPGA technologies and design tools

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of VHDL for FPGA development
  • Familiarity with current Intel FPGA’s
  • Previous use of Modelsim
  • Good written and oral communications skill

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of System Verilog / Verilog or VHDL 2008
  • Familiar with the use of Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) or Assertion Based Verification (ABV) for design validation
  • Proficient with the use of TCL scripting
  • Xilinx, Intel (Altera), Microchip (Microsemi)
  • Familiar with Network Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols

Person Specification:

You will ideally have a relevant STEM degree along with 2+ years FPGA design experience. CV’s from exceptional graduates will also be considered for this role.
