| Special Metals Company and leading innovator and manufacturer of nickel-based alloys that has over 100 years of history and experience in the nickel industry, has a requirement for a Production Manager at their site in Hereford. The Hereford site is a target driven fast paced manufacturing site which has the ability to manufacture from melt through to final product all under one roof. They supply nickel alloy products in various forms including Pipe, Bar, Strip, Seamless, Foil and many more. The site can trace its roots back to 1835 when it began making speciality nickel products. The site manufacturer alloys in all forms, from large ingots and billets to plate, sheet, strip, tube / pipe, bar, extruded section, wire, foil and more. Their portfolio contains more than 100 alloy compositions, wrought products and welding consumables. Location: Hereford Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Bupa, Pension, Bonus & Shares Skills: Ideally degree qualified, Lean, Metals, Alloys, Continuous Improvements, Target driven This is a days based production management position however flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business The role You will manage, direct and co-ordinate the overall activities of the department ensuring that KPI’s and other targets of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost are met. This will be achieved through close liaison with other departments and disciplines such as engineering improvements and machine availability and productivity as well as planning the feed of stock to the department and maintaining output to other areas of the plant, helping to achieve company goals and targets. You will monitor issues such as absence management, moral and discipline, ensuring they are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner, to facilitate an efficient and effective department. You will have the ability to maintain a high level of communication across your area of control and across other functions. Person specification Proven experience in a managerial role within a high volume production environment, capable of understanding process routes quickly as well as operating within a strong procedural production facility. The ideal individual will have significant interpersonal skills to be able to deal with a wide range of situations with strong moral ethics with regards to safe systems of work. Proven leadership of teams to achieve and surpass set targets, high use of initiative with regards to continuous improvement of plant, equipment and manpower. A willingness to adapt and develop within the role and must have high levels of future role potential. | ||||
